Why Order from the Wonderlamb Shoppe?
The Wonderlamb Shoppe is a holistic
business:
- The Wonderlamb Shoppe supports
sustainable/local businesses for the making of its products.
-
The wool for the comforters is cleaned and carded by the
Wool Scouring Coop, a cooperatively run business at the Yolo
Wool Mill, the local (Northern California) mill that prepares
the batting (sheets of wool) for the comforters.
- The comforters are handmade by a local (Northern Californian)
seamstress; no sweatshop labor involved.
- The products used to process the wool are hypoallergenic and
environmentally safe and have not been tested on animals. (If you
investigate other wool processors, you may be surprised to discover
that they use soap containing petroleum to cut the lanolin grease
in the wool and made by a company that tests its products on animals.)
- Cups and T-shirts are printed by Northern
Sun, a Minnesota business dedicated to environmental caring
and a better world. Whenever possible, Northern Sun uses products
made in the U.S.
- The wool for Wonderlamb comforters
comes from sheep who live on an animal
sanctuary. The Wonderlamb Shoppe is a project of Stephanie
Marohn, who runs the sanctuary and provides the daily loving
care of the sheep. Happy, healthy sheep make special wool.
- The Wonderlamb Shoppe operates
on the principle of: No sheep left behind (or out of the picture)!
All sheep are treated as individuals, not anonymous members of
a flock. All sheep get credit for the gifts they contribute.
